Murray State’s résumé shows bright moments, most notably neutral-site wins over George Washington and Akron, but those are undermined by damaging setbacks such as the neutral loss to McNeese State and road defeats at SMU, Drake and Northern Iowa, and a late home loss to Illinois State that magnifies concerns about a defense that has struggled to contain opponents.
